It's an All-time Ancient Crime ! Stealing! theft!

Though it's not about picking a pocket ,stealing money,nor robbing a bank. It's about robbing ideas, invention and innovations from people that rightfully created or owned it. It's called intellectual property - everything from trade secret, movies, musics and software...

It's a rapid growing threat - especially with the fast development of internet technologies such as Peer to peer file sharing websites. Much of the cyber theft takes place all over the globe, and some of the cyber IP law are often lax thus making the enforcement more difficult.

Intellectual property theft costs businesses billions of dollars a year worldwide and destroy the jobs of thousands and cause a big lost on tax revenues.

Intellectual Property in Malaysia

Intellectual property rights are in the jurisdiction of Ministry of Domestic Trade, Co-Operatives and Consumerism (MDTCC) and in particular, it's handle by one of the agencies of the Ministry , named Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO) 

MyIPO Objectives

establishing a strong and effective administration; strengthening intellectual property laws; providing comprehensive and user-friendly information on intellectual property; promoting public awareness programmes on the importance of intellectual property; and providing advisory services on intellectual property.
